Nothing tops talking
Whichever role you play, there are so many unknowns, that knowing how you feel is a great place to start.
Talking openly to a professional about your own feelings, concerns, worries and hopes is absolutely crucial throughout an adoption process. While we won’t tell you what to say, we will help you decide the best way to get it across to all those involved.
You may be reading this in a situation where you have been excluded from any discussions that have taken place or the decision process in its entirety. Our counsellors are experienced in this very common situation and can help you explore what might be happening from everyone’s point of view and come up with a way to approach the issue.
for different people
If the woman and man in the adoption process are receiving support, it will generally come from their partners, mothers, friends or other family members. Research conducted by the Crisis Pregnancy Agency in 2005 showed that more than one in three women looked to their mother for support. Whichever role you play, remember that the best way to support someone is to first keep yourself strong.
