That sentence is the reason Here2Help exists. Everything we do — every companion we hire, every booking we take, every family we call — starts there.
Anyone who has spent time in an Irish hospital waiting room knows the moment. A consultant says "you're free to go home now" — and the next question, often unspoken, is how. Not everyone has a son or daughter who can take the morning off. Not everyone has a neighbour to call. Not everyone is steady enough on their feet to manage a taxi alone after major surgery, sedation, or a long stay.
The HSE Patient Transport Service exists, but it's stretched thin and not always available. Free Now and Lynk will take the fare, but a regular taxi driver isn't trained to help someone with a walking frame down a hospital corridor or settle them at home with a cup of tea and the heating on. Family members living abroad — and there are a lot of us, scattered across the UK, Australia, Canada and the US — feel guilty and helpless every time their mam or da is in for a procedure.
We built Here2Help to fill that gap. It's not a taxi service. It's not a private nursing agency. It's something simpler and warmer than either: a vetted, insured companion who collects your person at the hospital door, gets them home safely, and makes sure they're settled before they leave.
Four values that shape every booking.
Every patient we collect is somebody's mother, father, partner, friend. We turn up the way we'd want someone to turn up for our own family — patient, kind, never rushed, never patronising.
Every Here2Help companion is Garda-vetted, fully insured, and trained in handling vulnerable patients. We tell families exactly who is collecting their relative, when, and how to reach us.
You'll never argue with a chatbot or chase an app. When you ring Here2Help, a person answers — and that person will see your booking through from start to finish.
We know the hospitals. We know the roads. We know that a discharge from Tallaght at 5pm on a Friday is a different challenge to a discharge from Beaumont on a Sunday morning. Local, every time.
Think of us as a taxi plus a concierge plus a friend. A taxi just drives. A care service is great if you need ongoing support but overkill for one trip home. Here2Help sits in the middle — single bookings when you need them, comprehensive when you want them.
A small Irish team of carers, drivers, and operators — backed by partnerships with vetted healthcare professionals across the country.
Here2Help is founded and run from Ireland. Our companions are recruited from the same workforce that staffs Ireland's home care, hospice, and community nursing sectors — people who already know how to handle a vulnerable patient with calm, humour, and respect. We partner with established care agencies for vetting, training top-ups, and surge cover, and we work alongside hospital discharge planners and medical social workers to make handover seamless.
We're not VC-funded. We don't have an app. We answer the phone. We aim to be the kind of service you'd recommend to your friend whose mam is going in for a knee replacement next week.
