You know the patients who can't safely make it home alone. We know how to bring them. Free for your hospital, simple for your team, safe for your patient.
Every Irish hospital has the same recurring discharge bottleneck. A patient is medically fit to go home. They have no one to collect them. The HSE Patient Transport Service is fully booked, or doesn't cover the journey, or won't be there until tomorrow. The bed is needed for an admission. The patient is anxious, the family is unreachable, the nurses are stretched.
You've made the phone calls. You know the workaround options β and you know how thin they are. A regular taxi can't help a post-op patient up two flights of stairs. A neighbour might mean well but isn't insured to drive someone home from sedation. Volunteer schemes have waiting lists.
Here2Help exists for exactly this gap. We are a private, paid service β but we are designed to be the call you can make when nothing else is going to work, and to make that call as easy as possible.
Referring a patient costs you nothing. We don't bill the HSE, the hospital, or your trust. The patient or their family pays directly for the service.
We don't pay referral fees and we don't ask staff to push our service. We give you leaflets. You hand them to families when they ask "how is mam getting home?". That's the entire model.
Every companion is Garda-vetted with current healthcare experience, and Here2Help carries full public liability and professional indemnity insurance. Our paperwork is available on request.
We respond to discharge-planner referrals within an hour during working hours and aim to confirm same-day collection wherever possible. We hold companion availability for hospital referrals.
You don't have to navigate a booking portal. Ring our hospitals line, talk to a person, hand over the details. We take it from there and update you when the patient is safely home.
Our companions check in at the ward, coordinate with nurses on medication and instructions, and follow your discharge plan. We are an extension of your discharge process, not a replacement for it.
A patient is medically fit for discharge but has no safe way home. You've checked HSE Patient Transport and exhausted the obvious family options.
Or, if the patient has no family available, you ring us directly on the hospital line and we take it from there.
We confirm collection time, companion name, vehicle, and contact number. You'll get an email confirmation if you want it on file.
They check in at the nurses' station, identify themselves, collect prescriptions and instructions, and walk the patient out to the car.
We text or email the discharge office when the patient is safely home and settled. Bed freed up, patient safe, family informed.
For Premium bookings we follow up with the patient 24 hours later and flag anything concerning back to your discharge team if relevant.
We hold companion availability across the following hospital catchments, with same-day coverage:
If your hospital isn't listed, ring us β we may already be operating in the area or be able to arrange cover.
On request, we'll send a hospital information pack containing:
