If your partner can't be there at discharge time, if you've had a Caesarean and the journey home feels enormous, or if it's just the first time — a kind, vetted Here2Help companion handles the bag, the car seat, the careful drive, and the first hour at home. €100 base.
Book Your CompanionIt's a strange afternoon. You've been in hospital for two days, or four, or more. The midwife has gone through the discharge bag, the feeding plan, the warning signs for you and the baby. You've been told to come back if anything worries you. And then you're standing at the entrance with a newborn in a car seat and the question of how, exactly, you get home.
For some families that question is easy. For many it's not. Partners are at work, or also recovering, or simply not in the picture. Mothers leaving alone after a Caesarean are still in significant pain and shouldn't be lifting a car seat. First-time parents have never installed a car seat in real-world conditions before. None of this is a crisis — but all of it deserves a calm, capable hand.
Here2Help isn't a midwife and isn't a replacement for community midwifery follow-up (your PHN will visit you at home in the days that follow — that's still happening, and they're the medical professionals on your recovery). We are the human bridge between the hospital and your couch. We carry the bag. We help with the car seat. We drive gently. We make a cup of tea and a sandwich. We let you settle.
Hospital bag, newborn bag, the strange selection of items that always accumulates over a few nights. Companion handles all of it so you only carry the baby.
Companion is trained to help with car-seat installation and safe newborn positioning. They don't fit it for you legally, but they can guide you through it and double-check the harness. Bring your car seat to the booking.
Smooth speeds, careful route, climate set comfortably for the baby. We know the road home from every Dublin maternity hospital.
Inside, bags carried up the stairs if needed, kettle on, somewhere warm and comfortable for you to sit and feed. If you've had a Caesarean we make sure you're not standing for anything.
Booked your delivery at a unit not listed? Email us — we cover most of Ireland's maternity centres.
Post-Caesarean? First-time parent and partner unavailable? Add 2-4 hours at €30/hr — companion stays through the first afternoon to help with a meal, bedside setup, and just being present. The most-booked option for first babies.
Here2Help is not a midwife, not a maternity nurse, and not a clinical service. We don't give medical advice, we don't assess your wound or the baby's feeding, we don't replace your community midwife or PHN visit. If you have a medical concern at any point, the right call is to your maternity hospital or your GP, not to us.
What we do is the practical, kind, logistical part of getting home — the bit that an aunt or a sister-in-law might do if she were available. We hold that line carefully, and we tell mothers exactly where it sits, so you know what to use us for and what not to.
