Here2Help is a small, growing Irish company that helps families bring vulnerable relatives home from hospital safely. A patient is being discharged. The family can't be there — they live abroad, or they're at work, or they're already minding three other people. They pay us to send a kind, vetted person to collect their mam, da, or relative from the ward, drive them home, and settle them in.
That kind person is you. The booking is usually two to four hours. You collect at the ward, help with belongings and walking aids, drive gently, get them inside, kettle on, family rung. You leave when they're safe. You log the booking in our app or by text. You're paid weekly.
That's the job. Real care, real driving, no spreadsheets, no sales targets. The work itself is what matters.
Three groups of people who tend to be exactly right for this work. You don't have to fit one perfectly — but most of our companions come from one of these backgrounds.
If you already hold an SPSV licence and run a hackney, you have most of what we need — insurance for paid passenger carry, NTA clearance, and a car. We add care training and structured bookings during your dead daytime hours.
Healthcare assistants, retired nurses, home-care staff, QQI Level 5 graduates, nursing students with placements behind them. If you already know how to help a frail patient out of a hospital bed, this is paid work that uses exactly that.
If you already give time to Alone, the ICA, Active Retirement, a parish committee, the GAA elders fund, or any group doing something like this — you can do it through us too, structured and paid, alongside the volunteering you already do.
Two-minute online form. You tell us your background, your area, and how many hours a week you'd like to work. Takes us 24-48 hours to reply.
We check your Garda vetting, references, driving licence and insurance. If anything's missing we tell you exactly what to do — we don't reject for paperwork we can help fix.
One short orientation (90 minutes, in person or video) covering how we handle handover, family communication, payments, and safety. Then a paid shadow shift with an experienced companion.
We send bookings to your phone when families request your area. You see the hospital, time, distance, fee. You accept or pass. No targets, no penalties for passing.
You collect at the ward, drive your person home, settle them in, text us when complete. We text the family. Done.
Bookings completed in a week are paid the following Friday by bank transfer. Detailed payslip, every line itemised. You handle your own tax — we issue a year-end summary.
Transparent up-front. No "boost" weeks. No surge games. Just the fee on the booking.
Customer pays €100. You keep €60 (60%). We keep €40 to cover platform, vetting, family-side service, insurance cover.
Customer pays €30/hour add-on. You keep €20/hour (67%). Common for post-op support, full-day cover, and hospital delays beyond 90 minutes.
Fuel and your own car costs are your responsibility (you're an independent contractor — see the FAQ). Long-haul drop-offs (outside Dublin) include a travel top-up paid in full to you — we don't take a cut of travel surcharges.
Here2Help is the platform. You're the companion. The relationship is the same as the one between Bolt and a hackney driver, or between Uber Eats and a delivery rider — we connect you to bookings, you deliver the work, we hold the customer relationship and pay you for the bookings you complete.

Pick your bookings. Pass any you can't take. School-run-friendly daytime work, evenings if you want them, weekends if you want them. No shift rosters.
2-3 bookings a week is €120-€180 in your pocket on top of whatever else you do. Five bookings is €300+. Reliable weekly payment.
