Your dead Tuesday hours, but paid properly.

SPSV-licensed hackney drivers across Ireland — take structured Here2Help discharge bookings during your slowest daytime hours. €60 per booking plus €20 per extra hour, real care work, none of the bar-rank grind.

Why hackney drivers fit this work

If you already hold an SPSV licence, half the problem is solved. You're vetted by the NTA. Your motor insurance already covers hire-and-reward — the single biggest barrier to anyone else doing this work. You drive every day. You know how to handle a passenger who's nervous, or unwell, or full of stories. And — most importantly for us — you've got dead hours.

The Here2Help booking pattern is heaviest on weekday mornings and afternoons. Hospital discharges happen 10am to 4pm most days. That's exactly when your rank is slow, when the school runs are done, when the airport jobs are scarce. It's also when an extra €60-€180 in your pocket has the most impact on the week.

What's different from a regular fare

Most of the job is what you already do. A few things are different — and they're the bits that make this care work, not taxi work.

Ward-level pickup

You don't sit at the rank waiting for a flag. You go to the ward, identify at the nurses' station, take the handover. The drive starts when the patient is ready, not when the meter says.

Help with the bits no taxi does

Belongings, walking aid, prescription bag from the hospital pharmacy. Help into the car, help out of it. Bag inside the door. Family rung. None of this is heroic — it's just not "taxi" work.

Gentle driving on purpose

Smoother routes, lower speeds where it matters, climate controlled for an unwell passenger. You already know how to do this; we just ask you to do it every time.

Fixed fee, paid weekly

No meter, no app surge, no app cut, no rank politics. You see the fee when you accept the booking. You're paid the following Friday by bank transfer.

What we need from you

What we pay hackney drivers

Same fee structure as every other Here2Help companion — the licence type doesn't change the pay.

Per pickup-and-home booking

€60

≈ 1.5-2 hours of your time. Customer pays €100, you keep €60.

Per extra hour

€20

When family books extra hours at €30/hr — you keep €20 of each.

Long-haul drop-offs (cross-county) carry a travel top-up paid to you on top of the booking fee. We don't take a cut of the travel surcharge — it's yours.

How this works alongside your normal hackney work

Here2Help is a side gig for you, not a replacement. You drive for whoever you want — Free Now, Lynk, direct fares, hotel runs, airport bookings. We send you specific Here2Help bookings; you accept or pass. There's no exclusivity and no minimum hours.

Most of our hackney-driver companions take 3-6 bookings a week — that's €180 to €540+ a week of structured, fixed-fee work in your slowest hours. It doesn't replace your evenings; it pays better than your dead afternoons.

Tax is your responsibility (same as any hackney work) and we issue a year-end summary so you can include it cleanly in your Form 11.

"Two years on the road, I thought I'd seen every type of fare. The first Here2Help job, I walked into the ward, the nurse handed me the discharge folder, and an old man called me 'son' for the first time in twenty years. Different work. Better work. I do three a week now." — Tom, Dublin hackney driver (founding companion)
